Fall is My Favorite

When I wrote the title I said it in my head like Buddy the Elf.  I like to smile, smiling's my favorite. ha!

We have been in Fall mode for quite some time here.  Usually after the 4th of July and when school starts I get the Fall itch.  The typical, everything pumpkin, decorating and Halloween shows on repeat.  I giggle when people say Already?  It's still hot out!  Yes sir, you are correct but I don't care!  Fall if my favorite and I will squeeze every last drop out of the short time it is celebrated!  So you have my permission to decorate, bring out your fall wardrobe, and buy anything that says pumpkin!  Cheers from my Pumpkin Spice Coffee Cup!

Loving our Kids

Sunday, September 1, 2019

I was walking into the living room last night doing my end of night routine.  You know the whole, make sure all doors are locked, turn off lights, and so on.  As I walked from the kitchen to the living room I noticed Mike was no longer in his chair.  I caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of my eye.   His shadow was highlighted by the LED lights he installed for the kiddos to choose from to make their rooms less scary.  I watched as he stood as still as a statue and watched Cadence sleep.  He stood there for what seemed like 20 minutes when I know it was probably only 2.  I knew I wanted to etch this memory forever so I quickly grabbed my phone.  It was one of those things I couldn't just remember I had to document it.  As I came to the bedroom he turned and smiled.  I knew what the answer would be but I asked anyway...  What are you doing Daddy?  We then had a conversation that I think most parents do.  Will kids be mean to our kids?  Will kids make fun of our kids clothes?  What is too much to give to a child?  We talked until we were too tired to continue.  We both came from completely polar opposites of upbringing.  I used to be told by my father that we could afford all the nice things my friends have but we don't need those things.  My dad had an A, B, and C plan for everything.  I wanted for nothing.  Mike on the other hand sometimes didn't even know where his parents were or when his next meal would be.

I want to give our kids the world but know that isn't possible nor is the right thing.  What I do know is that these kids just need love and boy are we going to give it to them!
